The Project

We are three college students living and working in Boston for the summer. In our spare time, we were looking for an interesting and different project to work on.

Our mission this summer is to attend college tours at every college in the Boston Metro area. According to the Wikipedia article on Boston colleges, there are 47 colleges located within reasonable distances to get to on the T. We took the list of 47, typed them into a list randomizer and we will be going to the colleges in the order that the randomizer created for us.

This is the list of colleges we will be visiting in our planned order:

  • Wentworth Institute of Technology
  • Berklee School of Music
  • Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology
  • Bentley University

We will be posing as prospective students at each school we visit and creating a backstory to see how well they relate to our individual interests and to maintain our anonomity. We intend to rate tours using the following categories on a 10 point scale:
  • Personality of tour guide
  • Appearance of tour guide (including a hotness rating)
  • Informative (1) vs Entertainment (10)
  • Quality of waiting area (and are there snacks/drinks provided?)
  • Quality/Quantity of free stuff
  • Quality of literature provided
  • Length of tour (too short? too long?)
  • Outside information given
  • Ability to answer questions
  • Ability to relate to the prospective student’s individual interests
*Tour guides will be given extra points if we are able to gather the following information without asking: Name, Hometown, Major, Year, Fun Fact
Hope you’re all having a great summer and enjoy our explorations of the college tour experience!
